Direct Srinagar-Jammu Vande Bharat train put on hold until further notice

Srinagar, Feb 25: Northern Railways has suspended the Vande Bharat direct train service between Srinagar and Jammu with effect from March 1, citing “unavoidable circumstances.”

According to an official communication, the decision has been taken by the Railway Board, which has also put the related notification programme on hold.

The suspension will remain in force “until further advice,” indicating that the halt is temporary. However, no specific timeline has been provided for the resumption of services.

Railway authorities said further updates will be shared as and when available.

The Vande Bharat service between Srinagar and Jammu was expected to significantly enhance rail connectivity within the Union Territory by reducing travel time and improving passenger convenience. The temporary suspension may impact commuters and travellers who were planning to use the high-speed service.
