New Delhi, Dec 5:
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) on Friday informed the Rajya Sabha that no operational challenges have been reported by approved units under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industries (PLISFPI).
According to the Ministry, the scheme continues to encourage greater participation from small and medium units, with 69 approved applicants and 40 contract manufacturers belonging to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Additional support to micro enterprises is also being provided through the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).
The Ministry stated that beneficiaries under PLISFPI have adopted advanced technologies to set up multiple production lines across food processing categories. This has resulted in the creation of 35 lakh metric tonnes per annum of new processing capacity.
MoFPI further reported that the scheme has generated an estimated 3.39 lakh direct and indirect jobs so far.
The information was provided by Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh in a written reply in the Upper House.
