JKPICCA holds AGM; members discuss sector reforms; acknowledge governance support

Srinagar, Nov 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Fruits & Vegetable Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA) on Sunday conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with active participation from members across the Union Territory. The meeting was held in hybrid mode, enabling members to join both physically and virtually, reflecting the association’s focus on wider engagement and digital inclusion.

The AGM discussed key issues concerning the fruits and vegetable processing sector and the integrated cold chain ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir. Members deliberated on policy challenges, technological advancements, value-chain improvements, and long-term strategies to strengthen the horticulture and cold storage sectors. Several important decisions were taken to support industry growth and enhance infrastructure across the region.

The meeting also highlighted the ongoing transformation in J&K’s agricultural and horticultural sectors, acknowledging the role of government leadership in driving reforms. Members appreciated the vision of the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, whose leadership led to the formulation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) following recommendations of the Mangla Rai Committee. The members also recognized the contributions of Chief Secretary Atal Dullo for steering the operational implementation of HADP and aligning departments to ensure on-ground progress.

Appreciation was expressed for the  Chief Minister  Omar Abdullah, Agriculture Minister Jenab Javed Dar, Additional Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar, and other senior officials whose efforts have strengthened J&K’s horticulture landscape. Members noted that initiatives such as high-density plantations, modern cold chain expansion, scientific orchard management, and adoption of global technologies have significantly improved productivity, market access, and value addition.

The association stated that the sector has increasingly evolved from a seasonal livelihood to a modern, technology-driven industry benefiting from institutional reforms and forward-looking policies. Members reiterated their commitment to contributing to this ongoing transformation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, JKPICCA extended a vote of thanks to all members for their participation, whether in person or online. The association acknowledged the efforts of the executive committee, office bearers, and technical support teams for ensuring the smooth conduct of the AGM.

The Jammu & Kashmir Fruits & Vegetable Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the region’s horticulture and cold chain ecosystem and contributing to a more resilient and progressive agricultural future.
