India ranks 8th at WorldSkills Asia debut Competition 2025

New Delhi, Nov 30: India secured an 8th-place overall ranking in its first-ever participation at the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC) 2025, finishing strongly among 29 participating nations. The event, held across 44 skill categories, brought together more than 500 competitors from Asian member and guest countries.

The Indian contingent, coordinated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) along with NSDC and technical partners, consisted of 23 competitors across 21 skill categories, supported by 21 experts. India won one Silver and two Bronze medals, along with three Medallions for Excellence.

Medal winners included:

  • Silver – Painting & Decorating: Muskan

  • Bronze – Industrial Design Technology: Komal Panda

  • Bronze – Robot System Integration: Shivam Singh & Dinesh R

  • Medallion for Excellence – Software Application Development for Business: Mohamed Mafaz P R

  • Medallion for Excellence – Web Technologies: Aditya Nandan

  • Medallion for Excellence – Electrical Installations: Dhanush M G

Women participants recorded a strong showing, contributing significantly to the medal tally and securing top national scores across several categories, including non-traditional skills.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said India’s performance demonstrated the capability and preparedness of its young talent.
“Every medal and recognition is a testament to the hard work of our competitors, the dedication of their trainers, and the growing strength of India’s skills ecosystem,” he said.

Competitors for WSAC 2025 were selected through the IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 and underwent months of industry-led training supported by academic institutions, Sector Skill Councils, and global experts.

Officials said the results reinforce India’s ambition to strengthen its position in global skill competitions. Preparations are underway for upcoming international events, with the government emphasising advanced training and global-standard benchmarking.

The WorldSkills Asia Competition aims to promote excellence and innovation in skill development, while enabling international exchange in education, industry, and workforce standards.
