Centre collects ₹18 lakh crore receipts, achieves ₹26 lakh crore spending till October

New Delhi, Nov 28: The Union Government collected 51.5% of its budgeted total receipts for 2025–26 by October, according to the monthly accounts released by the Ministry of Finance on Friday. The report shows that the Centre’s fiscal operations remain broadly aligned with the annual targets for the current financial year.

Up to October, the Government of India received ₹18,00,475 crore in total receipts. This includes ₹12,74,301 crore as net tax revenue, ₹4,89,079 crore in non-tax revenue and ₹37,095 crore from non-debt capital receipts.

Tax devolution to states amounted to ₹8,34,957 crore during the period — ₹1,11,981 crore higher than the corresponding period last year.

On the expenditure side, the government spent ₹26,25,619 crore, representing 51.8% of the Budget Estimate for 2025–26. Of this, ₹20,07,876 crore was on the revenue account and ₹6,17,743 crore on the capital account.

Interest payments accounted for ₹6,73,715 crore of the revenue expenditure, while major subsidies totalled ₹2,46,575 crore up to October.

The Finance Ministry is expected to release the next monthly update at the end of December.
