Srinagar: Stakeholders from across Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country have hailed the formation of the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism and Allied Business Forum, calling it a historic step toward uniting the region’s fragmented tourism, hospitality, and allied business sectors under a single platform.
The forum, launched on Sunday, aims to foster collaboration among associations, travel operators, hoteliers, and industry professionals to strengthen and promote tourism across Jammu and Kashmir.
The new body has appointed Mushtaq Chaya as Chairman, supported by Mushtaq Burza as Vice Chairman I and Gouhar Maqbool as Vice Chairman II. Wahid Malik will serve as Secretary General, with Manzoor Pakthoon as Joint Secretary. The post of Treasurer has been assigned to Aqib Chaya, while Murad Kapra will act as Joint Treasurer. Publicity and media responsibilities will be handled by Javid Burza and Nasir Shah.
Tariq Gani has been appointed Convenor and Sameer Baktoo Co-Convenor to coordinate activities and ensure smooth implementation of the forum’s strategic initiatives.
Advisors to the Committee include Jyotsna Suri (FICCI) and Omar Tramboo (Khyber Hotels), who will bring national and regional expertise to guide the forum. Other advisors include Farooq Hafiz and Co-Advisor Rouf Tramboo, while IT and Digital Media will be overseen by Hussain Khan and Tanvir Shah.
The Special Executive Committee features prominent industry figures such as Jyotsna Suri, Omar Tramboo, Altaf Gunna (Taj Hotel Srinagar), Dr. Imran (CCIK), Ibrahim Siah (TASK), Farooq Kuthoo (TAAK), Shafi Wangnoo (Ecotourism Society), Showkat Pakthoon (PLTOF), Nissar Mir (AKTO), Zahoor Karnai (TTIG), Manzoor Wangnoo (NTTA), Rouf Tramboo (ATOK), Jaan Mohammad (UTTA), Shahid Bazaaz (TAFOK), Abdul Majeed (Hoteliers Club – Sonamarg), and representatives from TAAI – JKC, IATO – JKC, ADTOI – JKC (Mir Anwar), TAFI National MC (Shamim Shah), SKAL – JKC, JKHC, PTA, and other allied bodies.
Representatives from tourism circuits in Jammu, Katra, Patnitop, Drass, Kargil, and Leh are also part of the extended network.
To streamline operations, the forum has formed specialized sub-committees covering Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Event Management, Roadshows & Marketing, General Trade, and Environment & Sustainability.
Members said the forum’s focus will be on collaborative policymaking, eco-friendly tourism, digital marketing, film tourism incentives, sports and adventure tourism, and lease renewal for hospitality projects.
The launch of the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism and Allied Business Forum is being hailed as a landmark moment for the region’s tourism industry, reflecting unity, professionalism, and a collective resolve to make Jammu and Kashmir a leading destination for sustainable tourism and investment.
