Srinagar: A crucial meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee is currently underway, with almost every participant suggesting that the party should end its alliance with the National Conference.
Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that there is a broad consensus within the party in favour of pulling out of the alliance. “Many leaders have spoken out. There is a unanimous view that Congress should withdraw from the alliance. The meeting is still in progress,” they said
The leaders are also averse to contesting the risky seat being offered to the party for Rajya Sabha polls.
The meeting was convened after the National Conference refused to allocate a safe seat to Congress for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for October 24. —(KNO)
