Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has made a remarkable mark in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released today, securing its place among the top universities of the country.

According to the NIRF 2025 rankings, SKUAST-K has achieved:

  • 7th rank among all 78 agricultural universities in India

  • 3rd rank among 74 State Agricultural Universities (SAUs)

  • 36th position among all state public universities

  • 75th position among all public and private universities nationwide

  • 94th rank overall among 4,045 universities and institutions evaluated across India

This performance has yet again underlined SKUAST-K’s emergence as a leading institution in agricultural education, research and innovation, with significant contributions to the farming community and rural development.

Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Dr Nazir Ganai, congratulated the “family of SKUASTians” for the achievement.

“I credit this success to our policies, the hard work of our officers, faculty, staff, and students, and the trust and support of the government,” he said. “We shall continue to strive for qualitative improvement, so that the university matters even more for society”, Dr Nazir said speaking to Ziraat Times.

Educationists note that SKUAST-K’s climb in the national rankings reflects its growing reputation for research excellence, innovation in agri-technologies, and outreach programmes benefitting farmers in Jammu and Kashmir. The recognition is also expected to boost the university’s visibility among students and scholars at the national and international levels.
