Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club has welcomed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate cuts approved by the GST Council, describing them as a much-needed relief for families, businesses, and the tourism sector.

Chairman of the Club, Mushtaq Chaya, in a statement to Ziraat Times, said the decision to lower taxes on essential items, exempt health and life insurance from GST, and reduce costs on life-saving medicines would directly ease the burden on people struggling with rising expenses.

“Making treatment and insurance affordable is not just an economic decision, it is about saving lives and supporting families. This move is both compassionate and timely,” Chaya noted.

He added that small traders and budding entrepreneurs would also benefit from reduced costs and simplified compliance, which would encourage more business activity. Importantly, Chaya stressed that Kashmir’s tourism industry, which sustains thousands of livelihoods, would see a direct boost from the reforms.

Calling the measures Next Generation GST Reforms, Chaya said they reflected the government’s commitment to both ease of living and economic strength. “These reforms will make a real difference on the ground—easing family budgets, uplifting small businesses, and giving our economy new strength,” he said.
