SRINAGAR: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), through its Intellectual Property Facilitation Center (IPFC) for Jammu & Kashmir, convened a strategic review meeting for the Kashmir region on Saturday. The meeting was held at the Branch-MSME Development & Facilitation Office (DFO), Ministry of MSME, Government of India, Srinagar.
During the meeting, Iqbal Fayaz Jan, Incharge of PHDCCI-IPFC J&K, briefed the Assistant Director of MSME on the center’s achievements. He noted that the IPFC has successfully extended Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) services to over 151 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kashmir. In addition to IPR assistance, the center has offered mentorship programs, brand-building support, and business advisory services, all of which have played a vital role in fostering regional entrepreneurship.
Er. Saheel Yaqoob Allaqaband, who also participated in the discussions, stressed the importance of expanding ongoing initiatives. He called for greater emphasis on design registration awareness, promotion of Geographical Indications (GIs), and district-wide outreach programs to increase participation from entrepreneurs across the Valley.
The meeting concluded with a plan to conduct extensive awareness campaigns across all districts of Kashmir. These initiatives will particularly target new-age businesses and startups, highlighting the strategic importance of IPR in enhancing market competitiveness and building long-term brand value.
The PHDCCI-IPFC reiterated its commitment to strengthening Kashmir’s innovation ecosystem by continuing to offer comprehensive IPR support, including access to in-house, highly skilled IPR attorneys.
