JAMMU: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Petroleum Dealers Association, led by its president Rahul Gupta, met the Controller of Legal Metrology, Rajinder Singh Tara, to discuss key challenges faced by petroleum dealers across the Union Territory.
During the meeting, the delegation presented a summary of pressing issues requiring the department’s attention and stressed the need for proactive collaboration to ensure smooth operations and efficient service delivery across fuel stations in the region.
Controller Tara assured the delegation of full departmental support and announced that the Legal Metrology Department would soon organize awareness camps. These camps aim to educate petroleum dealers on the legal and technical intricacies involved in their operations, enabling them to adopt voluntary compliance measures more effectively.
Highlighting the importance of consumer satisfaction, the Controller advised petroleum dealers to address customer grievances with urgency and empathy. He stressed the need to minimize complaints and to prioritize prompt and fair redress mechanisms at all outlets.
With the annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 approaching, Tara urged the association to ensure the provision of essential amenities to pilgrims and other consumers, especially along National Highways and key routes.
Reaffirming the department’s commitment to business facilitation, the Controller stated that genuine entrepreneurs will continue to receive support under the Business Reform Action Plan. However, he emphasized that this support would go hand in hand with strict enforcement of Legal Metrology standards to protect consumer interests.
The interaction was described as constructive and aligned with broader efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance, consumer trust, and service excellence in the petroleum retail sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
