Season’s first snowfall graces Kashmir Valley. Here is area-wise update.

Srinagar: As forecasted by Ziraat Times, the much-anticipated season’s first snowfall blanketed many parts of Kashmir early Thursday morning, bringing joy to the valley residents and setting the stage for winter.

The snowfall, which varied in intensity across the region, has has been mild to moderate so far. While higher altitudes received substantial snowfall, several plains reported lighter flurries.

In the capital city of Srinagar some parts have reported snow flurries this morning.

Snow accumulation across Kashmir

In Shopian main town, snow accumulation reached 1-2 inches, while Khan Sahib in Budgam reported 2 inches of fresh snow.

The upper reaches, including Zojila, experienced over 10 inches of snowfall, and Sonamarg recorded 8-10 inches,

In other parts, Bandipora plains received light snow.
Vailoo Kokernag saw a light dusting of snow.
Hachmarg in Kupwara recorded 1-2 inches.

Snowfall in Rajpora Tehsil, Pulwama district, varied, with some areas receiving moderate snow and others reporting little to no accumulation:

– Sangerwani: 4 inches
– Abhama: 3.5-4 inches
– Achgoza: 3 inches
– Cb Nath: 1 inch

This snowfall comes as a boon for Kashmir’s apple orchards and the region’s agriculture, as it marks the start of the snowpack accumulation crucial for the next irrigation season. For the tourism sector, the fresh snowfall in destinations like Sonamarg and Zojila heralds the beginning of the winter tourism season, offering opportunities for adventure sports and scenic tours.
