Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has expressed satisfaction with the administration’s efforts to restore essential services in the Kashmir Valley following recent adverse weather conditions.
In a statement to Ziraat Times, KCCI president Javed Ahmed Tenga commended the swift actions taken under the personal and on-ground supervision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with the contributions of MLAs, officials, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, and various Deputy Commissioners. The Chamber highlighted the dedication of field staff from the Power Development Department (PDD) and the police in ensuring the prompt restoration of power supply and the clearance of stranded vehicles and blocked roads.
“The Chamber believes this quick response is crucial for maintaining public confidence and safeguarding the economic and social fabric of the region, especially in tourist destinations that are vital to the local economy,” the KCCI stated.
Despite initial challenges posed by the snowfall, significant progress was made in expediting power restoration and clearing roads, including those leading to key tourist destinations. The KCCI specifically lauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for personally overseeing the crisis management efforts.
The Chamber acknowledged the administration’s ability to manage the situation efficiently, ensuring that essential services were back in operation sooner than anticipated. “Given the dire conditions prevailing yesterday morning, it seemed like an uphill task for the administration. However, their responsiveness and commitment have been commendable,” the KCCI noted.
Looking ahead, the KCCI urged the administration to remain vigilant and proactive, emphasizing that snowfall during winter is not uncommon in the region. The Chamber expressed hope that such preparedness would continue, fostering an environment conducive to growth and development.
