CCIK meets Union Minister Jitendra Singh; submits memorandum for tourism, NPAs

Srinagar, 6 Sep: A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kashmir (CCIK), led by President Tariq Ghani and spokesperson Zeeshan Mohiuddin, met with Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today to discuss key issues affecting the business community and tourism industry in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted several critical matters and sought the Union Minister’s intervention for swift resolution:

1. Renewal of Tourism Registration: The delegation emphasized the need to streamline the renewal process for tourism-related businesses, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with regulatory standards.

2. Amnesty for Power Tariff on Commercial Establishments: The CCIK requested an amnesty scheme for power tariffs for commercial establishments struggling financially. This measure would help the business community recover from the economic disruptions of recent years.

3. Airport Facilities and Infrastructure: Concerns regarding airport parking, baggage handling, and tourist facilities were raised. The delegation urged improvements to enhance the overall tourism experience and ease of travel for both domestic and international visitors.

4. Gulmarg Land Lease Renewal: The group discussed the timely renewal of the Gulmarg land lease, crucial for sustaining tourism investments and development in the region.

5. Support for the Business Community Regarding NPAs and Loan Accounts: The CCIK addressed the challenges facing the business community, particularly with Non-Performing Assets (NPA) and loan accounts. They called for government support to help businesses recover and foster economic stability in the region.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh assured the delegation of his full cooperation and reiterated his commitment to resolving the concerns raised. He emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue between the government and local business leaders to ensure sustainable growth in the tourism and commercial sectors.

The CCIK delegation expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s prompt attention and hoped for a positive outcome in the near future.
