Srinagar: In response to the unprecedented heat wave gripping Kashmir Division, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has issued an urgent appeal to the administration to consider closing schools across the valley.
“This drastic yet necessary measure comes as temperatures consistently reach historically high levels, causing severe discomfort and health concerns for school-going children”, KCCI said.
The valley’s ongoing heat wave has created a challenging environment, particularly for young students. With temperatures soaring, parents have voiced their concerns about the well-being of their children. The frequent power outages exacerbate the situation, rendering coolers and fans inoperable, which significantly impacts the students’ ability to cope with the heat.
In light of these circumstances, KCCI has actively engaged with the administration, advocating for the closure of schools until there is a noticeable improvement in the weather conditions. The health and safety of the children remain a top priority, and KCCI emphasizes the urgent need to address the parents’ concerns.
During recent discussions with high-ranking officials, KCCI received assurances that the administration is taking these concerns seriously.
