Kashmir Welfare Trust honors Srinagar bravehearts who saved drowning child in Jhelum river

 

Srinagar: Kashmir Welfare Trust today honored the two Srinagar bravehearts who saved a drowning child in Jhelum river near Safa Kadal this week.

Today’s felicitation event at Hotel Kashmir Mahal Resorts, Nishat, was organised by Kashmir Welfare Trust in collaboration with Kashmir Concern and other allied NGOs, was held to celebrate the incredible bravery of Showkat Ahmad Sofi and Zahoor Ahmad Khanday. These two individuals bravely saved a seven-year-old boy from drowning in the River Jhelum.

Prominent members of the society, including Jehangir Bakshi, Secretary DLSA, and former Chief Secretary Shafi Pandit and M.A Shah, who appreciated the bravery and selflessness of Showkat Ahmad for jumping into the Jhelum waters without caring for his life and saving the life of the child.

The Trust has expressed gratitude  to all the dignitaries, guests, NGO heads, civil society members, and volunteers who graced the occasion.

“Special recognition goes to Jehangir Bakshi, Secretary DLSA, and former Chief Secretary Mr. Shafi Pandit M.A Shah for their inspiring presence. Hosting duties were expertly handled by Dr. Tauseef”, a KWT officer bearer said.
