Srinagar: In the immedaite term flood treat has receded for Srinagar and parts of Kashmir as water level in the Jhelum river is going down at Sangam in Anantnag.
Here is a comparison of the water levels recorded at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM:
– At Sangam, the water level decreased from 19.11ft to 18.90ft.
– At Pampore, while the water level increased from 4.94m to 4.97m, it is unlikely to go up further to a level to cause a flood like in 2014.
– At MunshiBagh in Srinagar, while the water level increased from 17.96ft to 18.08ft, it is unlikely to go beyond 21 feet as Sangam level has gone down.
– At Asham, the water level increased from 10.95ft to 11.08ft.
– At Wullar, there was a slight decrease from 1577.36m to 1577.38m.
Among the tributaries:
– Vishow Nallah at Khudwani decreased from 6.87m to 6.64m.
– Rambiyara Nallah at Wachi decreased from 2.30m to 2.08m.
– Doodhganga Nallah at Barzulla decreased from 1.88m to 1.84m.
– Sindh Nallah at Doderhama increased from 2.05m to 2.00m.
Overall, the changes seem relatively small, suggesting that the flood threat may be stabilizing rather than receding significantly.
