Private Schools’ Issue: Director Education, Kashmir, issues clarification

Ziraat Times News Network

Srinagar: The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir has clarified that no minutes of the meeting held with the heads of private schools on April 4, 2024 have been issued so far.

The Directorate has warned what it called some self-styled organizations from issuing misleading information about the meeting. The notice states that any such acts will be strongly refuted and strict action will be initiated against them.

The Directorate has informed the general public about some of the important decisions taken at the meeting:

Schools cannot charge any admission fee or capitation fee other than the fee prescribed by the Fee Fixation Committee (FFRC).

Students cannot be forced to buy additional books or other content that is not prescribed by the government.

The bus fee charged by the schools should be approved by the FFRC. However, the schools must pay salaries to the drivers and attendants during the winter months as well.

Any dispute on fee should be addressed between the parents and the school administration. The schools cannot withhold student’s transfer certificate or admit card for any fee related issues. This is a violation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
