Srinagar: A beacon of hope has emerged for residents of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) seeking a new life in dream city of  Mumbai. A group of nearly 100 Kashmiri professionals, many holding senior positions in management, business, banking, healthcare,  media, etc have joined hands to create the “J&K Bombay Circle”.

This non-profit organization, founded by Ikram Bukhari, who works as Chief Manager at a leading national bank, is aiming to serve as a vital support system for J&K residents arriving in Mumbai.

J&K Bombay Circle is supported and steered by other prominent members like Dr. Aijaz Ashai (prominent physiotherapist), Dr. Suhail Mir (national cricket physiotherapist), Ms. Mahrukh Inayat (TV journalist and entrepreneur), Umar Raina (head of Swiggy business in Mumbai), Adil Gurezi (Singer), Ejaz Khan (Executive Vice President – Bajaj General Insurance), Vijdan Kawoosa (Reuters), Qazi Imran (Head Core Budget’s Vodafone), Zuhaib Rashid – DVP ICICI Lombard and Yasir Shah (owner Kashmir Handloom Store Colaba).

“Most of the new comers starting a new life in a new city face challenges. We have gone through it, so have many others, and we now want to do our bit in lending a helping hand to J&K residents seeking to start a new life in the city”, Ikram Bukhari said while speaking to Ziraat Times.

The J&K Bombay Circle aims to bridge the gap by offering assistance in three key areas of employment, education and Medical care.

“The group leverages its extensive network to help J&K residents find suitable jobs in Mumbai. This includes connecting them with potential employers and offering guidance on navigating the job market”, said a member.

J&K Bombay Circle recognizes the importance of education and strives to provide support to students from J&K. This may involve guidance on educational opportunities, scholarships, or even assistance with finding accommodations near educational institutions, said Mr Ikram.

With accomplished members like Dr. Ashai and Dr. Mir, the J&K Bombay Circle offers a unique advantage. They aim to connect J&K residents with specialists and even facilitate access to free cancer treatment, a crucial service for those in need.

The group doesn’t stop there. They also aim to raise awareness about available resources and accommodations specifically suited to the needs of the Kashmiri community in Mumbai.

J&K Bombay Circle welcomes not only those seeking help but also Kashmiri professionals residing in Mumbai who wish to contribute their skills and experience, said Mr Ikram.

If you are a resident of J&K seeking a new beginning in Mumbai, or a Kashmiri professional in Mumbai looking to give back, you can be part of the J&K Bombay Circle network. You can find the group’s WhatsApp group link here:
