141st Board Meeting of Central Silk Board held in Srinagar. J&K pitches for enhanced support for silk sector

Srinagar, Nov 25: The 141st Board Meeting of Central Silk Board was held under the chairmanship of Prajakta L. Verma, IAS, Union Joint Secretary (Silk), Ministry of Textiles here today.

The event began with welcome address by  Sivakumar P. (IFS), Member Secretary. Senior Officers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, U.P, Tamil Nadu and other States of India also participated in the meeting.

The UT of J&K was represented by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), who flagged the issues with the Union Joint Secretary (Silk) MoT for timely completion of developmental projects during the coming three years by extending full budgetary support and for marketing of Raw Silk (Cocoons) by the Central Silk Board.

In turn, the Union Joint Secretary (Silk) MoT assured the Director Sericulture Dev. Deptt., J&K of full technical and financial support for development of Sericulture in UT of J&K, an official statement issued on the occasion said.

On successful completion of 75 years of Central Silk Board a logo was also unveiled to celebrate the institutions rich legacy and achievements during this phenomenal journey.
