Mushkbudj, Kani shawl, walnut wood carving: Each J&K district to be export hub under DEH Scheme

Srinagar, Sep 26: To make each district a hub for exports, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has enlisted the products, which are produced from every district and has a huge potential in the international market.

In its list of the products produced under “District as Export Hub Scheme”, at least 75 products have been enlisted from 20 district of Jammu and Kashmir, which have a huge potential of exports.

In Kashmir, 43 such products have been enlisted by the industries and commerce department.

Citing an official document, news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said four products including cricket bat, walnut, Mushkbudji, honey, red chillies and trout fish have been identified from Anantnag district, which will be promoted under District as Export Hub Scheme.

From Bandipora, trout fish, honey, black cumin, and crewel-based shawls have been enlisted by the administration, which has a huge potential for exports in the international market.

Kani shawl, sozni and crewel has been selected from Budgam district under District as Export Hub Scheme.

From Ganderbal district, wicker willow, trout fish and Kani shawls have been enlisted to be promoted under the District as Export Hub Scheme.

Red rice and walnut are the two products which have been enlisted from Kupwara under the scheme.

Pulwama and Shopian which are famous for saffron and apple respectively, will have these two products which will be promoted for the international market under District as Export Hub Scheme.

From Srinagar, at least 11 products including walnut wood carving, silk, honey, silk carpet, strawberry, chain stitch leather, pashmina, bakery products, kani shawls, paper machie and copper ware have been selected under District as Export Hub Scheme for its promotion worldwide.

Similarly, from the Jammu division various products including Basmati rice, mushrooms, bamboo, pickle, walnut, Rajmah, honey and other products have been enlisted under the scheme.

An official said that all these products which have been enlisted will get due promotions so that their export is enhanced.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion organization is working to promote all these products, which are produced in bulk from each district of Jammu and Kashmir. While many among these products have a good reputation in the international market, the government is working to promote the rest under the scheme,” he said. —(KNO)
