Kashmiri footballer Asrar Rehbar sets higher goals after Qatar League debut

Srinagar, May 30: One of Kashmir’s young star footballers, Asrar Rehbar, after registering two wins in two matches for his team at Qatar in the 2023 QIA Champions League, is looking to take up more challenging assignments in the days to come.

“Two wins in 2, and an unstoppable hunger for more @city_exchange_fc”, Asrar wrote on his Facebook page on Monday after yet another win of his City Exchange FC team.

Speaking to Ziraat Times from Doha, Asrar said that he was delighted about playing at international level, scoring goals and learning from new coaches and a different environment.

“It is making me more confident that there is more to come, and I must work harder to make it to more such international league tournaments”, Asrar said.

Asrar Rehbar, a budding football player from Kashmir, hails from Srinagar, and had set his eyes on becoming a football champion from his early schooling days. An alumni of Srinagar’s Burn Hall School, Asrar had started playing football early at inter-school and later at inter-club levels in Kashmir.

He is now representing Qatar in the 2023 QIA Champions League taking place at Doha now. He is playing for the City Exchange FC in the tournament.

QIA Champions League is the Qatar Indian Association (QIA)’s flagship football tournament. The league started on May 18 at the Doha Stadium.

Since its inception in 2013, QIA has brought  together professional footballers from India and expatriates living in Qatar in a month-long footballing extravaganza.

Asrar has continued his brilliant form in the QIA league so far already leading his side into a knockout on a match on Friday.

Having scored in his debut game, Asrar was at his absolute best in the crucial game against QIE SpeedForce FC on Friday and went on to score a goal and made two assists to help his side cruise into a knockout. In the match City Exchange FC beat QIE SpeedForce FC by 5-0 goals at Doha Sports Stadium. Out of five goals, Asrar had contribution in three.

Asrar now has got two goals and as many assists in the two games played so far.

Asrar who has been playing in Bengaluru and J&K over the years and has joined the club after getting an offer. He has previously played for FC Bengaluru United as well as FC1 in J&K. Apart from that he has also represented J&K in Santosh Trophy besides playing for various other clubs of J&K.
