Srinagar, May 12: Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union and the New Kashmir Fruit Association have written to Narendar Singh Toma, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and have expressed their gratitude to the ministry for introducing Minimum Import Price for apples.
Ziraat Times here reproduces the letter written by Bashir Ahmad Basheer,
Chairman, Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union and President of
The New Kashmir Fruit Association:
Shri Narendar Singh Tomar Ji,
Honb’le Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare
The undersigned in the capacity of Chairman Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Delaers Union which is an Elected Apex Body of all Fruit Growers Associations of the Valley Viz: Srinagar, Sopore, Baramulla, Chara-ie-Sharief, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, JabliPora, Kulgam, Khoi, Pachahar, Zazna Ganderbal would like to convey appreciations from core of our hearts on banning of import of Apples costing below Rs.50/- per kilogram.
In fact the Agriculture Sector in general and Horticulture Sector in particular has witnessed unprecedented upheavals since last several years both on Natural as well as Political fronts with the result the Valley Based Fruit Growers have suffered heavy losses. The arrival and sale of imported apple in APMC Mandi’s of the Country have dashed and squeezed the demand of Kashmiri Apple in Indian Markets with the result the Valley Based Fruit Growers Cum Dealers suffered additional losses on this account.
Since the banning of arrival of imported apples in the markets of our country was a long pending demand of this Union, the banning of import of apples costing below Rs.50/- per kilogram in APMC Mandi’s of our Country is, therefore, extremely appreciated by the undersigned on behalf of Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union, Fruit Marketing Complex, Parimpora Srinagar.
With great regards,
(Bashir Ahmad Basheer)
Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union
The New Kashmir Fruit Association
