Bod Sheen: Read here how much snow is likely in your area this week

Srinagar, Jan 7: As two Western Disturbance cloud systems are likely to hit Jammu & Kashmir between Jan 7 and Jan 14, a major snowfall – called Bodd Sheen in local parlance – is on cards in most areas in Kashmir region and upper parts of Chenab, Pirpanjal regions and Leh and Kargil regions in Ladakh. Jammu plains are likely to receive a good rainfall as well.

According to Ziraat Times Weather Outlook, two moisture bearing cloud systems, which emanated from the Arabian Peninsula early this week, are headed to J&K and Ladakh, while on weather system is likely to result in snowfall and rains between Sunday and Monday; another one is likely to result on major snowfall between Wednesday and Saturday.

Farmers are advised to plan their orchard and other farming activities accordingly.

Based on the analysis of multiple data by Ziraat Times related to the likely extent of cloud cover and  density, wind speeds and direction probabilities, humidity and temperature differentials, here is the detailed weather outlook for Jan 8 – 14.

ESTIMATED SNOWFALL LIKELY TO OCCUR AREA WISE: 

North Kashmir areas of Baramulla, Kandi Baramulla, Rafiabad, Sopore, Bandipora, Lolab Valley, Uri, Razdan Pass, Gurez, Kupwara, Sadhna Pass are likely to receive snowfall ranging between one foot to 3 feet.

Central Kashmir valley plains, including Srinagar city, Zabarwan range, Dara-Harwan, Dachigam Park and Mahadev mountain areas, Tral-Shikargah areas, Ganderbal, Kangan, Sindh valley are likely to receive one foot to 2 feet of snowfall.

In Ganderbal district, Kangan-Sindh valley, Sonamarg, Zojila and surrounding areas, Kargil-Zanaskar areas 1 foot to 3 feet snowfall is likely.

The Southern parts of Kashmir valley in Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts, Verinag, Kokernag, Margan Top, Pahalgam, Kulgam, Damhal Hanjipora, Kapran, Shopian, Pir ki Gali, Bafliaz areas, are likely to receive between one foot to 4 feet of snow.

Central Karewa (wudur) and Pirpanjal areas in Budgam, including Khan Sahab and surrounding kandi areas, Doodhpathri, Chrar Sharief belt, Tosamaidan, Pulwama, Baramulla districts along the range from Yusmarg, Gulmarg and Kandi Baramulla would receive 1.5 feet to 3 feet of snowfall.

Upper Bhaderwah, Upper Kishtwarupper Doda, Sinthan Top, Margan Top and Wadwan valley would receive snowfall between 2 feet to 4 feet.

Banihal, upper parts of Ramban, upper Rajouri and Poonch would receive snowfall  ranging between 1 feet to 3 feet.
