Singhpora Kishtwar Tunnel Project: Bottlenecks being addressed

KISHTWAR, NOV 27: District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav today visited Singhpora area of Chhatroo Sub Division to take first-hand appraisal of the progress of the Survey for widening of National Highway-244, besides listening to the grievances and issues of the owners whose land has been acquired for the Project.

He was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chhatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar; General Manager NHIDCL, Tehsildar, besides other concerned officers and officials.

During the inspectional visit, the GM NHIDCL apprised the District Development Commissioner about the current status of the survey for the widening of existing NH-244 and also enlightened about the hurdles and bottlenecks faced by the executing agencies.

Meanwhile, the land owners demanded to revisit the alignment of the approach road to the proposed Singhpora tunnel as the current alignment was passing through a major chunk of irrigated Agriculture land and engulfing residential houses thereby causing huge losses to locals.

Interacting with the locals, the District Development Commissioner said that this Highway, on completion, would serve as an all weather road Connectivity between two valleys Viz. Kishtwar and Anantnag and also augment lifeline connectivity of the area.

He sought the cooperation and coordination of locals in this regard. He assured that their genuine issues and demands would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for prompt action so that the work on the widening project was completed.
