Kashmir businessmen paying their taxes diligently: PHDCCI

Srinagar, July 7: The PHDCCI Kashmir delegation headed by its chairperson Baldev Singh Raina, Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, CA Mushtaq Ahmad and Iqbal Fayaz Jan (Deputy Resident Director PHDCCI) was today attended the interaction meeting related to GST Act 2017 organized by Commissioner J&K State taxes Department.

Baldev Singh in his address said the businessmen of Kashmir are paying their taxes diligently despite various difficulties. “Although the sales tax department has undergone a sea of change in the past few years, the traders are also simultaneously keeping pace with tax reforms in J&K”, he said.

Besides other issues, PHDCCI Kashmir chapter also demanded for the extension of time frame of VAT Amnesty, which is long pending issue of trade and commerce of J&K, it said.

Overall, it was a highly constructive and fruitful session where the voices, thoughts and expert ideas of the PHDCCI EC member CA Mushtaq Ahmad were heard and recorded. Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS Commissioner, States Taxes Department ensured that all issues related to sales tax department and CBT will be resolved in consultation with Trade and Commerce of Kashmir”, a PHDCCI statement received by Ziraat Times said.

“The officers of State Tax Department and GST Department interacted with PHDCCI and other major tax payers, business community, traders and businessmen and members of prominent trade body representatives. The objective of the programme was to take feedback and concrete suggestions from the stakeholders and listen to their grievances besides spreading awareness amongst the taxpayers regarding Indirect taxes and other issues with regard to GST.

“The proceedings were chaired by Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS Commissioner, States Taxes Department, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat (KAS), Addl. Comissioner State Taxes (Adm & Enforcement) Kashmir, Danish Gill, Deputy Commissioner CGST”, the statement added.
