Ziraat Times News Network

Srinagar,19 May: A Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) delegation called on Divisional Commisioner Kashmir, P. K. Pole here on Wednesday. The delegation was led by Haji Mohammad Yaseen Khan. Khan, who also heads Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), asked for his attention towards several issues including installation of CCTV cameras.

“As we at KTMF have been always advocating for the betterment & improvement of trade and public issues concerning the general public with the administration from time to time however this time preemptive approach to avoid predicaments suffered by traders are a matter of grave concern”, Khan said.

Khan said, “roads are in really very bad shape as it is awaiting macadamisation since past couple of years. Also lanes and by lanes need more attention as they are full of potholes and need to be taken care of. “Another concerning issue for business community is the proposed power tariff hike which should not be hiked as business is in deep distress. Although the tourist influx is good but it needs more breather as we have suffered immensely since past couple of years due to COVID lockdown”,

Khan also appealed to modify the the recent order about installation of CCTV cameras on every shop as every small time trader cannot afford this setup. The whole setup is a costly affair for a small time shopkeeper as it involves a cost of Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per shop. Also this poses a high risk of fire if kept on surveillance during night hours. On this matter Div Comm assured us of instant relief which will be visible in coming days.

Moreover business issues pertaining to Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Airport , Srinagar Development Authority (SDA), Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited(KPDCL) and several issues were thoroughly discussed. A grave issue pertaining to Narbal Traders was also put up with Div Comm on which he gave patient hearing.

Khan said, the suggestions were well received. “We are hopeful the issues will be addressed on priority bases especially the issue related to installation of CCTV’s. Div Com assured us that our other concerns would also be taken care of for the betterment of the economic sector in the Valley. The Divisional Commissioner said that he would hold a followup meeting next week with KTMF members and redress issues if any, faced by the business fraternity. “

Khan was accompanied by other  senior members of Federation who  include Khursheed Ahmad Shah (Mahraja Bazar, HSHS), Riyaz Ahmad Kachkar (Auqaf Market Lal Chowk), Raja Fida Hussain Khan (Shaheed Gunj) Qazi Tauseef (M.A.Link Road) , Mohd Muzaffar Ahmad (Narbal) , Abdul Ahad Parray (Narbal), Ab Majid Bhat (Narbal) & Mohd Ramzan (Narbal) & Firdous Ahmad (Budshah Chowk).
