Kashmir power crisis: KCCI says patients on home oxygen support struggling

Srinagar, April 23: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today expressed its concern over the unscheduled power cuts as the situation was causing a lot of hardships to the people, especially those who are on home-bases oxygen support.

In a statement issued by the apex business body’s General Secretary and prominent businessman Farooq Amin, KCCI said, “We have never seen such worst and frequent cuts in the holy month [of Ramzan], especially during Sehri and Iftaar.”

“In the past the Governments and administrations tried to facilitate the people during Ramadan, but the harrowing experiences that are unfolding in this holy month of Ramzan are unprecedented”, the chamber further observed.

“The patients are struggling throughout the valley who are on oxygen support at their homes”, the apex chamber further said,  adding that as the Shab-e-Qadar holy night was approaching, KPDCL should ensure sufficient supply of electricity in Jammu & Kashmir.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad President , KCC&I appealed LG Manoj Sinha to personally intervene, so that the people will get uninterrupted electricity.

“KCCI urges the administration and the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people during Sehri and Iftaar hours in the Valley”, the statement added.
