Srinagar, Jan 17: J&K Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCC) on Monday staged a protest at the Engineering Complex, Rajbagh Srinagar and has sought the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for release of contractors’ pending payments.

According to a statement issued to Ziraat Times, the chairman of JKCCC, Ghulam Jeelani Purza has written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, in which they have questioned the rationale of delaying contractors’ payments who execute various public works.

“If on one side orders are issued by the government officials in which they state to complete all of the ongoing projects as soon as possible, which also states that in case any of the contractor does not complete the project on time they will be blacklisted, on the other hand, does the same administration think about those contractor? Has any official ever asked the contractor is your work done claim/ bills being paid on time?”, the JKCCC said in the statement.”Thousand of bills are pending in treasuries from December 31, 2021 till date which have not yet been settled. If the Administration claimed that we will undertake works only after making the funds available, followed by tendering, does the administration have this type of funds?”, the statement added.

JKCCC, Chairman Ghulam Jeelani Purza has requested Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and issue orders for release of funds.
