Major FMD vaccination program launched in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, NOV 3: The Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir, Purnima Mittal on Tuesday launched the prestigious Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Vaccination Programme under National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP-FMD) (Round -2nd) from Srinagar district.
The vaccination drive was also successfully launched in all districts of Kashmir Province.
Under the programme ‘Free of Cost’ FMD vaccinations is being carried out.
On the occasion, Health cards were also distributed amongst farmers whose animals were vaccinated.
Speaking, the Director Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir highlighted the importance of Vaccination for prevention and control of FMD among bovines.
She also interacted with the progressive dairy farmers/ entrepreneurs, who expressed their happiness and appreciated the efforts/ initiatives of the department with respect to various schemes /policies /guidelines.
All the concerned field officers were directed to gear –up for 100 percwnt vaccination coverage of eligible bovine population.
The FMD Control Programme is 100 percent centrally funded programme. It aims to control Foot and Mouth Disease by 2025 with vaccination eradication by 2030.
