Tarigami files writ petition in SC, seeks early hearing on Article 370 plea

Srinagar, Aug 27: CPI (M) senior leader and People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) spokesman, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami on Friday filed a writ petition in the top court of India, seeking early hearing of petition, challenging Government of India’s move to abrogate provisions of Article 370 on August 05, 2019.

Mr Tarigami has already filed a petition challenging the decision taken by the government on August 05, 2019.

The former Kulgam legislator has today filed a writ petition, in which he has pleaded for early hearing of petition with regard to the government’s decision.

The writ petition mentioned the details and steps taken by the government since it nullified the Article 370 provisions and said that it is submitted that the challenge to the constitutional validity ought to be heard on an expedited basis otherwise the petition itself would be rendered infructuous in view of the irreversible actions of the respondents and the applicant would be rendered remediless.

“It is respectfully submitted that if the matters are not heard urgently, grave injustice will be caused to the applicant. In such view of the matter, the applicant herein is seeking early hearing of writ petition,” the petition reads.

In view of the above facts and circumstances this Hon’ble Court may have kind indulgence to direct the respondents accordingly, in the interests of justice, otherwise the applicant will be put to irreparable loss, injury and hardships,” it added.
