Business bodies welcome end of weekend curfew in J&K

Srinagar, July 27: Following the lifting of weekend curfew across J&K, business and trade bodies have hailed the government’s decision, terming the step as a ‘positive one towards business revival.’

The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) President Sheikh Ashiq told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the move is a welcome step, as in other parts of India trade is allowed to function on all days.

However, he urged all traders to follow the Covid SOPs and adopt Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

“We urge all the sections of the society to follow the Covid Sops and in case the Sops are violated, the first impact comes on the trade and business, which results in its closure,” Ashiq said.

Sheri Khas Trade Union President Nazir Ahmed said that the decision taken by the government is a welcome step, and can be of a great help for the struggling economy.

He also said the lifting of the weekend lockdowns for the transport sector, which has also been among the worst sufferers during the recent lockdowns, would be of a great help to run their transport on all week days.

“We have also sensitized the traders about the Covid Appropriate Behaviour and sign boards have been placed outside the shops asking customers to use face masks and to follow other Covid Sops,” he said—(KNO)
