Leopard rampages Tangmarg village; kills 26 sheep

Tangmarg: Wild animals rampaging on human habitats seems to have no end in Kashmir.
In yet another shocking incident, 26 sheep were reportedly killed here by a leopard when the beast rampaged a the sheep flock of a farmer in Rambiarpora village on the night intervening of June 21st and 22nd.
The beast’s rampage has rendered Mehraj-ud-Din, the owner of the sheep, in a shattered situation, local resident Hilal Ahmed told Ziraat Times.
Villagers told Ziraat Times’ Tangmarg correspondent that Mehrajuddin and his family are in a state of shock for this incident. His hopes of earning some income from the sale of the sheep ahead of the forthcoming Eid Azha festival have been dashed to the ground, they said.
The incident has created deep fear in the area as Rambairpora is a low lying village far from forest area, some four kilometers from Kunzar township. People of the area have asked the Wildlife Dept authorities to trace the whereabouts of the beast so that people can heave a sigh of relief.
The locals have also demanded for the rehabilitation of the affected farmer.
