Heavy rains and snowfall likely in these J&K areas: ZT farmer advisory

Srinagar, March 20: A precipitation spell involving medium to heavy rains and and snowfall is likely to start tomorrow Sunday afternoon across Jammu and Kashmir and persist until Wednesday. According to Ziraat Times weather outlook, while there is likely to be a pause in the precipitation activity on Monday, heavy rains and snowfall are likely to persist throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to ZT Outlook, while most of the Kashmir Valley is likely to experience rainfall during this period, the mountains are likely to experience medium to heavy snowfall. Medium to heavy snowfall is likely to be experienced across Outer Himalayan and Pir Panjal mountain range starting Monday afternoon until Wednesday.
In view of the intensity of the cloud cover likely to engulf most of J&K during this period and also owing to the significant temperature drop expected in a region spanning from Tajikistan, Afghanistan, northern Pakistan and within Jammu and Kashmir, some snowfall is also expected in Kashmir Valley plains, mainly in karma areas, between Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the available data, heavy snowfall is likely across upper Pirpanjal, including Gulmarg and Yusmarg, Zojila Pass areas, Kargil, parts of upper Ladakh mountains, Zanaskar valley, upper Chenab valley areas.
Medium to heavy snowfall across all major mountain passes connecting Kashmir Valley areas like Pir ki Gali, Banihal Pass, Zojila Pass, Razdan Pass, Sinthan Pass, Sadhna Pass and Margan Top is likely to result in a likely disruption of vehicular traffic between Kashmir valley and Jammu, Kargil, Wadwan, Kishtwar-Doda, Karnah and Gurez.
Farmers are advised to plan their agricultural activities factoring in significant rainfall in plain areas and also a potential snowfall in Kashmir Valley karewa areas between Tuesday and Wednesday.
