FCIK welcomes raising stipend of handicrafts trainees

Srinagar, Jan 28: FCIK President Shahid Kamili has welcomed the decision of doubling of the stipend for handicrafts and handloom trainees at centres of the Handicrafts and Handloom Department.

In a statement to Ziraat Times, Mr Kamili said that the decision ‘will benefit the artisans at large and will make more people to learn the different handicraft trades’.

He also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Department and Mehmood Ahmed Shah Director Handicrafts & Handlooms for getting this order issued.

As previously reported, Jammu & Kashmir administration has announced doubling of the stipend provided to handicrafts and handloom trainees at the various centres of the Handicrafts and Handloom Department of the government.

In an order issued by the Commissioner Secretary to J&K government, Manoj Divedi, the government has accorded sanction to the enhancement of the rate of stipend from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 and Rs 700 to Rs 1500 in elementary and advanced courses for handicrafts respectively.

Rates have, likewise, been enhanced from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 and Rs 700 to Rs 1500 in handloom courses as well.
