JAMMU: The J&K administration on Tuesday announced that toll tax will be abolished in J&K at Lakhanpur and all other posts including posts at Railway Stations and Airports w.e.f 01.01.2020.

This announcement was made by Principal Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Rohit Kansal, who is also the government spokesperson during a press conference held at the Media Complex here this evening.

He added that the government has decided to set up a High Powered Committee under the chairmanship of Advisor KK Sharma to interact with various stakeholders and to suggest measures to improve the competitiveness of local industry.

The government also announced that Short Messaging Service (SMS) and the broadband services in all the government hospitals will be restored midnight in the Kashmir valley.

Rohit Kansal further said that the government “remains committed to the development of a vibrant, modern and competitive industrial and manufacturing sector in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Principal Secretary added that around 6 lakh persons like students, tour operators, businessmen, contractors, etc were facilitated at 900 internet touch points established by the government at various places in each district headquarters of the valley.

The Principal Secretary informed the press conference that the procurement period of apples in Jammu and Kashmir under NAFED MIS for the season 2019 has been extended upto 31st March 2020.
