Kashmir tourist resorts, mountains brace for snowfall on Sunday

Srinagar: Season’s first snowfall is likely in Jammu & Kashmir’s tourist resorts and Himalayan range and Pirpanjal mountains on Sunday, analysis of multiple weather data by Ziraat Times indicates.

While Sonamarg, Zojila Pass, Kolohai mountain areas and Mount Harmokh are likely to experience 4-7 cm of snowfall, upper reaches of Gulmarg, Pir ki Gali and upper Shopian and Kulgam mountains are expected to have lighter snowfall, Ziraat Times analysis suggests.

Some light snowfall activity is also likely in north Kashmir areas of Gurez, and upper Kargil-Zanaskar areas in Ladakh region.

In Jammu region, some light snowfall is also expected in upper Chenab valley basin, mainly in Kishtwar and Doda mountains.

Kashmir valley plains, including Srinagar, are likely to remain dry or experience light showers. This latest snowfall activity is likely to result in a further dip in daytime and nighttime temperatures in Kashmir valley and parts of Jammu and Ladakh.
