NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 04: The Central Government is considering a Social Media Code of Conduct for government officials and employees, aimed at regulating their use of social media platforms, according to reports.
The proposed guidelines may govern officials’ posts, reels and expression of personal opinions on platforms including X, Facebook and Instagram.
The move comes amid concerns over government officials using social media for personal publicity and posting content while on duty.
The proposed code is expected to lay down broader norms governing the online conduct of government employees, though the detailed provisions are yet to be finalised.
The Government is also yet to announce an implementation date for the proposed guidelines.
