Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday raised concern over the alleged sale of spurious drugs in Jammu & Kashmir and directed the authorities to take effective measures to check their availability in the market.

Addressing the 3rd CII J&K Health Conclave in Srinagar, Sinha said he had come across spurious antibiotics and other medicines being sold in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for stronger monitoring and regulatory measures to prevent the circulation and sale of substandard or spurious medicines.

Sinha said several reforms were required in the health sector, including measures to address the issue of spurious drugs and ensure that people have access to safe and quality medicines.

He called upon the concerned authorities to strengthen the mechanisms for checking the sale of such medicines and take appropriate action to safeguard public health.
