Nandan-led Task Force seeks suggestions to strengthen public exam system

New Delhi, August 28: The Government of India has invited suggestions from students, parents, teachers, academic institutions and other stakeholders as part of a comprehensive exercise to reform the country’s public examination system.

The High-Powered Task Force (HPTF), headed by Nandan Nilekani, has been constituted to examine and recommend reforms in the conduct, security, design and governance of public examinations, including those conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The task force is examining measures to strengthen institutional systems and processes, improve examination integrity and security, deploy appropriate technologies, augment examination infrastructure, promote accessibility and inclusion, and safeguard student well-being.

The objective is to develop a public examination system that is robust, secure, transparent, equitable and future-ready.

The HPTF has invited suggestions from students and candidates, parents, teachers and academic institutions, examination-conducting and test-indenting bodies, subject matter experts, technology professionals, industry organisations, civil society groups and other interested stakeholders.

Suggestions have been sought on several areas, including the conduct and security of examinations, examination design and assessment methods, governance and accountability, and prevention, detection and redressal of examination malpractices.

The task force has also invited inputs on the use of technology, including secure computer-based testing, creation and augmentation of examination infrastructure, and development of an inclusive examination framework to improve access across social, economic, regional and linguistic groups.

Stakeholders can also submit suggestions on transparency, grievance redressal, communication with candidates and other stakeholders, and measures to promote student well-being throughout the examination process.

Submissions can be made in English, Hindi and regional languages.

The government said the inputs received through the public consultation will assist the HPTF in formulating its recommendations to the government on reforms in the public examination system.

The last date for submission of suggestions is September 13, 2026.
