Kargil: The Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) participated in the second edition of the Suru Summer Festival 2026, organised by the Tourism Department, Kargil, in the picturesque Suru Valley.
TAAK was represented at the festival by Finance Secretary Aijaz Hussain and Chief Organizer Mubarak Ahmad, who held discussions with Administrative Secretary, Tourism, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS; Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, IAS; Assistant Director, Tourism Department Kargil, Mohammad Ali Tak; and other tourism stakeholders.
The discussions focused on Kargil’s tourism potential and ways to strengthen tourism and business cooperation between Kashmir and Kargil. TAAK shared suggestions on developing, packaging and jointly promoting destinations and tourism experiences in Kargil.
The delegation highlighted that Kargil’s tourism potential extends well beyond adventure tourism. Leisure tourism, culture and heritage, village experiences, local cuisine, nature, photography and slow tourism were identified as areas that could be developed to diversify the destination’s tourism offerings.
The need for improved tourist facilities, infrastructure, connectivity and coordinated destination promotion was also discussed. TAAK emphasised that stronger collaboration between tourism stakeholders in Kashmir and Kargil could help create integrated travel packages and encourage visitors to spend more time in the region.
The Kargil administration, Tourism Department and local tourism stakeholders expressed their readiness to explore avenues for attracting more tourists to the region and strengthening tourism-related cooperation.
TAAK said closer coordination, joint promotion and stronger business linkages between the two regions could help position Kargil as a major tourism destination while creating longer and more enriching travel experiences for visitors.
The association thanked the Tourism Department, Kargil, and Assistant Director Mohammad Ali Tak for the invitation and hospitality, and expressed its willingness to continue working with Kargil stakeholders for the promotion and sustainable growth of tourism in the region.
