Srinagar, August 28: Raksha Bandhan is being observed across Jammu & Kashmir on Friday with religious fervour and traditional enthusiasm, as people celebrate the bond of love, affection and mutual protection between brothers and sisters.
The festival has brought families together, with sisters tying the traditional rakhi on their brothers’ wrists and offering prayers for their well-being and prosperity. Markets across the Union Territory have also witnessed activity, with people purchasing rakhis, sweets and gifts for the occasion.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended his greetings to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on Raksha Bandhan, wishing happiness, prosperity and well-being to all families celebrating the festival.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the auspicious occasion.
In his message, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the festival’s values of love, trust, affection and the enduring bond between siblings, while wishing peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
Political leaders and public representatives across the Union Territory also extended greetings to the people, underscoring the festival’s message of togetherness, harmony and mutual respect.
Raksha Bandhan, traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, is marked by the tying of rakhi as a symbol of the cherished bond between siblings. The festival also carries a wider message of solidarity, affection and social harmony.
