NC veteran, former minister Dr Mustafa Kamal dies; LG, CM Omar express condolences

Srinagar, July 14: Senior Jammu & Kashmir National Conference leader and former minister Dr Mustafa Kamal passed away on Monday after a brief illness at a private hospital in Srinagar.

Dr Kamal was the son of former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, brother of former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The Chief Minister’s Office expressed heartfelt condolences to Omar Abdullah and the bereaved family. Officers and staff of the CMO conveyed their profound grief over Dr Kamal’s demise, praying for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also expressed grief over the veteran politician’s passing.

In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said he was deeply saddened by the news of Dr Kamal’s demise and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, well-wishers and admirers.

Dr Kamal was a senior National Conference leader and had served as a minister in the erstwhile state government. He remained an influential figure in Jammu & Kashmir politics for several decades.
