As Branwar-Hajin gains tourist popularity, Forest Dept urges visitors to carry back waste from Hajin Meadow

Srinagar, Jul 13: The Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department has appealed to visitors to Hajin Meadow to carry back all waste generated during their trips, saying individual responsibility is essential to preserving the area’s fragile ecosystem despite sustained cleanliness efforts.

The department said it has conducted multiple cleanliness drives at the scenic meadow with the support of local residents, cricket enthusiasts, tourists, volunteers and forest staff to maintain the pristine condition of the popular destination.

It, however, stressed that the long-term success of these efforts depends on the cooperation of every visitor.

The department urged tourists travelling to Hajin Meadow via the Branwar–Hajin route not to leave behind plastic, food wrappers or other litter, and instead carry all waste back for proper disposal.

Officials said responsible visitor behaviour is crucial for protecting forests, wildlife and the natural environment, adding that even small actions by individuals can have a significant impact on conserving the meadow for future generations.

The department also called on the public to help preserve the area’s natural beauty by ensuring that visits leave no trace on the landscape other than footprints.
