New Delhi, June 4: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has invited applications for the August-September 2026 term of its Internship Programme, aimed at providing women students, scholars, teachers and social activists an opportunity to engage with policymaking and government programmes related to women and child welfare.
According to an official statement issued on Thursday, eligible candidates can apply online through the internship portal. The programme is open to women in the age group of 21 to 40 years who belong to rural areas and non-tier-I cities across the country.
The ministry said the internship seeks to familiarise participants with its policies, schemes and programmes through a short-term association. Interns may also be assigned pilot projects and micro-studies related to the ministry’s ongoing initiatives.
The programme is conducted in four two-month terms every financial year — May-June, August-September, November-December and February-March. Applications for each term are invited two months in advance between the 1st and 10th of the relevant month. Candidates who have already been selected for any previous term are not eligible to apply again.
Officials said the initiative is designed to encourage young women to contribute to policy processes and strengthen the implementation of government schemes through research and field-based analysis.
The internship also offers participants opportunities to prepare reports, policy papers, briefs and empirical studies while interacting with ministry officials, representatives of other government departments and stakeholders working in the areas of women’s empowerment and child development.
The ministry said the programme aims to bridge information gaps, promote research on issues affecting women and children and provide participants with practical exposure to governance and public policy.
Applications for the August-September term can be submitted online through the ministry’s internship portal before the stipulated deadline.
