KCCI Seeks Extension of J&K Bank Rehabilitation Package Deadline

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to extend the deadline for its Rehabilitation Package 2025, a financial relief initiative aimed at supporting borrowers affected by the disturbances following the recent Pahalgam incident.

In a formal communication addressed to Mr. Amitava Chatterjee, Managing Director and CEO of J&K Bank, KCC&I President Javid Ahmad Tenga described the scheme as a “significant and timely intervention” that helped individuals and enterprises revive operations and meet repayment obligations.

The Chamber said the package had received an encouraging response from borrowers across sectors such as tourism, handicrafts, and services, with many applicants submitting their consent before the November 5, 2025, deadline.

However, the KCC&I noted that several borrowers could not complete required formalities due to technical issues and procedural delays at certain branch levels, despite having applied within the stipulated time. The Chamber maintained that these applicants remained keen to comply and avail the scheme’s benefits if provided additional time.

The KCC&I, therefore, appealed to the bank to extend the validity period of the Rehabilitation Package to ensure that all consented and eligible borrowers are covered. The Chamber emphasised that such an extension would uphold fairness and inclusivity, aligning with J&K Bank’s commitment to customer welfare and equitable relief for those impacted by recent disruptions.

“An extension would demonstrate the bank’s continued empathy and support for the business community striving to recover from unforeseen challenges,” the Chamber stated in its appeal.

The J&K Bank Rehabilitation Package 2025 was rolled out to assist borrowers in restoring financial stability after the Pahalgam incident, particularly in key sectors that form the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy.
