Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a sharp attack on the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its pre-election promises during its first year in office.
In a statement issued on Thursday, BJP J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur described the government’s first year as “Ek Saal Nakami Ki Misaal” — a year of failures and unfulfilled commitments.
“Where are the 12 free LPG cylinders, the 10 kg of monthly ration, the 200 units of free electricity, and the one lakh jobs promised within six months?” Thakur asked, alleging that not a single promise made to the people has been fulfilled.
He said the government’s inaction and misplaced priorities have led to growing public distress, adding that the common people are “struggling under the burden of rising prices, unemployment, and administrative indifference.”
The BJP leader urged the government to focus on real governance, employment generation, and relief measures rather than “cosmetic announcements and self-congratulatory events.”
Thakur reiterated that the BJP would continue to hold the government accountable and raise people’s issues both within and outside the Assembly.
