Srinagar: A delegation from the Pashmeena Entrepreneurs Makers and Artisans (PEMA) Foundation), led by its President Tariq Dar, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday to discuss ongoing efforts for the preservation and promotion of Kashmir’s traditional crafts.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the foundation’s initiatives aimed at cultural preservation, artisan welfare, and the promotion of Geographical Indication (GI)-registered products from Jammu and Kashmir, including the world-renowned Pashmina.
The members also shared details about the upcoming PEMA Foundation 2025 Artisan Award Ceremony, which aims to recognize, incentivize, and honour master craftspeople across the Union Territory for their excellence in traditional craftsmanship.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha appreciated the foundation’s efforts in reviving and sustaining Kashmir’s centuries-old craft traditions and assured the delegation of the government’s continued support in promoting the region’s artisan economy.
