GCC J&K to Host M. Shafi Pandit Memorial Lecture on RTI and Good Governance

Srinagar: The Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC), Jammu and Kashmir, is set to organise the Mohammad Shafi Pandit Memorial Lecture on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Institution of Engineers (India), Church Lane, Sonwar.

The lecture will be delivered by Wajahat Habibullah, former Chief Information Commissioner of India, on the theme “RTI and Good Governance – Responsibility of Civil Society.”

 Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir, will attend the event as the Chief Guest. The session will be chaired by Dr. Ashok Bhan, former DGP J&K.

The memorial lecture has been instituted in honour of Mohammad Shafi Pandit, a distinguished civil servant and one of the first IAS officers from Jammu and Kashmir, known for his contribution to governance and public service.

According to the organisers, the event will provide an opportunity for civil society members, professionals, and young citizens to reflect on the role of transparency and accountability in governance.

The programme will commence at 2:00 PM and is being held by invitation only. An online participation option will also be available through Google Meet.
