SRINAGAR: In a major preparedness exercise, the administration of Jammu & Kashmir is set to conduct a large-scale mock drill across multiple districts tomorrow. The drill is part of a coordinated effort to test the readiness of disaster response mechanisms, enhance inter-agency coordination, and raise public awareness on emergency protocols.
According to official sources, the mock drill will be conducted in the following districts:
Anantnag, Badgam, Baramulla, Doda, Jammu, Kargil, Kathua, Kupwara, Leh, Poonch, Rajauri, Srinagar, Udhampur, Samba, Akhnoor, Uri, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Awantipur. Pulwama district has also been listed separately for participation.
District administrations have been directed to ensure smooth conduct of the drill, which will simulate emergency scenarios such as natural disasters, terror attacks, or chemical hazards. Teams from disaster management, health, police, fire and rescue services, and other key departments will participate.
Speaking to the media, a senior official stated, “This exercise is crucial for identifying operational gaps, refining communication protocols, and ensuring quick response in real-life emergencies. Public cooperation will be key.”
Authorities have also issued advisories asking citizens not to panic during the drill and to follow all instructions issued by local administration. In some areas, mock sirens, temporary evacuations and road diversions may be implemented for realism.
